Employees often think the changes in their co worker is being caused by current family issues.  Let's face it, those who have become dependent on drugs often have to loose their family, car, house, and job before they determine they have to change their life.  Life with an addict is diffucult, at the very least. Spouses eventually, kick a person to the curb.  Opiate users often cannot stay awake. Have you ever given someone the benefit of the doubt because you care about them, and their life is a mess right now.

REALLY, WHY GO FOR YOUR DRUG TEST, WHEN YOU KNOW YOU CANNOT PASS

It is little known, especially to the "weed" smoker, that today's weed is 10 times stronger than "weed" of the past, and, they know not, how long it is detectible in their blood or urine.  Beyond that they do not understand why.  As laws change, and medical marijuana and/or recreational marijuana use becomes legal, emplyees need to know the details of the detection times, and the difference in a fat soluable drug and a water soluable drug. Positive test results will become more numerous.

THE HEROIN EPIDEMIC, WE SUFFER FROM NOW, WAS CAUSED BY THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY CONVINCING PHYSICIANS TO NOT LET US LEAVE THEIR OFFICES WITHOUT HELP FOR OUR PAIN. "SCRIPT PADS" BECAME A GREAT WAY TO END A 13 MINUTE APPOINTMENT, AND THAT'S ALL MANAGED CARE WOULD COVER.  13 MINUTES.  AS YEARS WENT ON, MORE AND MORE MEDICATIONS, ALL CONTAINING THE MORPHINE MOLECULE, WERE DEVELOPED AS PHYSICIANS COMPLAINED OF ADDICTED PATIENTS. EACH NEW DRUG REPORTED TO BE LESS ADDICTING. WHEN THEY COULD NO LONGER GET SCRIPTS, THE ONLY PLACE TO GO WAS TO THE STREETS, WHERE HEROIN IS MUCH CHEAPER. NOW WE ARE LOSING MORE 25 TO 45 YEAR OLD CITIZENS TO HEROIN OVERDOSES THAN TO NATURAL CAUSES OR ACCIDENTS.  WHAT WILL BE THE LONG TERM EFFECT ON EMPLOYERS.  WHO WILL THEY HIRE?

Marijuana is a fat soluble drug that is released into the system slowly, therefore convincing the, recently quit user, that they are not dependent.  After all there are no obvious withdrawal symptoms.  Their impairment is long standing. Ever work with someone who quit for a time and went back to it?  You were likely in an unsafe environment the whole time.

It is estimated that 70% of the heroin addicts employers deal with daily, began their addiction on pain killers.  Some of it could be eliminated if those with chronic or excruciating pain understood how that impacts the brain, and the use of medications.  Anyone out there suspect this issue in your workplace?

I WAS JUST THINKING THAT EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE "MINIMAL WAGE JOBS",  WHOSE NET PAY IS SO LOW, THEY NEED GOVERNMNET ASSISTANCE TO REMAIN A FAMILY, CANNOT BUY THE PRODUCTS THEY SELL.  THEY ARE THEREFORE NOT ADDING TO THE ECONOMY.  WHEN WILL BIG BOX EMPLOYERS DECIDE TO REDUCE THEIR PERSONAL INCOMES, AND PROVIDE LIVING WAGES TO THEIR EMPLOYEES?

Flexibility in the Workplace


Did you know that smaller employers might be more likely to provide greater workplace flexibility than larger employers?  While larger employers have come a long way in that area, smaller employers are more willing to be flexible with starting and quitting times, let employees control break times, take time off during the week without pay to tend to family or personal issues.  They are also more willing to let new mothers/fathers return to work gradually after childbirth or adoption.  Some small employers let employees work some regular hours at home occasionally.
